upcoming cd + dvd:

ARTIST: the hacker
TITLE: x
Formats: cd + dvd
different recordings cat no: DIFB 1090 CD
RELEASE DATE: 02.06.2008
The origins of this DVD find their roots in The Hacker's desire, after 10 years dedicated to techno, to go back to a period of his life that was rich in encounters, experiences, and music. It was also a way to close the chapter of "Reves Mecaniques", his last studio album.
The cd includes a one hour live gig with an unreleased track and 3 studio tracks (13 tracks in total!).
The DVD features more than 2 hours of visual material with the live, a 52 minutes documentary about The Hacker, early live videos with Miss Kittin and Perspect and bonuses.
Through the documentary The Hacker aimed at sharing the universe in which I live and put all its key actors in the limelight. These people (DJ Hell, Miss Kittin, Oxia, Terence Fixmer,..) not only helped concretize his passion, but were also indispensable in the development of electronic music, both in France and abroad.
"The live in this DVD has particular significance in my eyes" says Michel Amato aka THE HACKER. "It was recorded in the city where I started off, Grenoble, in October 2006, or 10 years to the day after my first steps as electronic musician".

watch out for new release:

ARTIST: the hacker
TITLE: 2980 ep
Formats: 12"
different recordings cat no: DIFF 1086 T
RELEASE DATE: 07.04.2008
The Hacker, purveyor of electroclash and in-fashion techno, sees his latest tune sbeing released by Different Recordings. 2980 has become a hommage to the eighties, only set one thousand years into the future.
The package comes with two tunes: White Techno Funk and 1980. The first one opens with a minimal beat loop full of Berlin-esque house elements, and it seems as if The Hacker has decided to switch from his electroclashy sound to a more minimal sound. Luckily, there's an oldschool little synth buzz melody that makes up a simple sequence with hardly any surprises. As the track proceeds, little or no additional elemetns are added byw hich the track begins to sound a bit too repetitive. This one's nowhere near the cool electroism The Hacker used to produce. It seems to be fully focussed on that fashionable minimal sound, and the result isn't exactly groundbreaking...
2980 opens with a punchy 4x4 kicks and a series of modulated synthesizers that create a more oldschool house atmosphere. The track takes some time to build up and uses a lot of vintage instruments much like The Hakcer's previous producers. The addition of deep down dirty basses and hi-hats give the track a no-nonsense vibe, making it sound like The Hacker's 2005 hit single Moskow Reise. The intense basses and staccato groove create a real dance-floor stomper with that authentic 'The Hacker punk vibe'.
The Hacker returns with a cool little package that will sppeal to many clubbers. White Techno Funk sees The Hacker going minimal, with the result being a so-so track with hardly any 'soul'. 2980 does come with soul, and although it's a mechanic one, it pulls the package above average. A solid club stomper!
